What is Omega Market Profile Indicator?

Omega Market Profile Indicator is a MetaTrader 5 trading analysis tool based on the Market Profile method developed by J. Peter Steidlmayer. Instead of organizing market activity only by time and candlesticks, it organizes price according to where the market spent time. This helps identify areas of accepted value and prices that were rejected during each trading session.

The indicator creates a Time Price Opportunity profile for every session and automatically calculates the Point of Control, Value Area, Initial Balance and previous session value levels. It also classifies day types and opening types while tracking important auction events such as Initial Balance breaks, acceptance outside value and the 80% rule.

Omega Market Profile supports Forex, Gold, indices, energies, crypto and stocks, making it suitable for a broad range of markets available through MetaTrader 5.

How Does Omega Market Profile Indicator Work?

Session Based Market Profile

The indicator first defines the trading session using SessionStart and SessionEnd in broker server time. It supports full day, regular day and overnight session structures.

This session framework is important because Market Profile analysis depends heavily on where a trading session begins and ends.

TPO Profile Construction

Each session is divided into TPO periods of 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Every period receives a letter and each price level traded during that period is marked. These TPOs build the profile and show how long the market interacted with different prices.

The automatic row size adapts to market volatility using recent daily range data, while RowPoints can be used when a fixed row size is preferred.

Point of Control

The POC is the price row containing the highest number of TPOs. When multiple rows contain the same number of TPOs, the row closest to the profile center is selected.

Within Market Profile analysis, the POC acts as an important reference for where the session spent the greatest amount of time.

Value Area

The Value Area expands outward from the POC until it contains the configured percentage of TPOs. The default VAPercent is 70 percent.

VAH represents the upper boundary while VAL represents the lower boundary. Price inside the Value Area indicates a more balanced auction, while movement outside the area can indicate increasing imbalance or potential directional development.

Initial Balance

The Initial Balance measures the high and low of the first TPO periods of the session. By default, two 30 minute TPO periods create the classic first hour Initial Balance.

The width of the Initial Balance and whether price breaks beyond it contribute to the indicator’s day type classification.

Auction Structure Analysis

The indicator identifies single prints, tails, poor highs, poor lows, rotation factor and range extension. These elements help describe whether the auction is showing strong directional activity, rejection or balance.

Day Type Classification

After the Initial Balance develops, Omega Market Profile continuously classifies the session into categories such as Trend Day, Neutral Day, Neutral Extreme, Normal Variation, Non-Trend Day, Normal Day, Double Distribution or Developing.

Opening Type Analysis

The first two TPO periods are compared with the session open to classify the opening as Open-Drive, Open-Test-Drive, Open-Rejection-Reverse or Open-Auction.

Profile Events and Score

The event engine tracks opening relation to previous value, Initial Balance breaks, acceptance outside value, the 80% rule, POC touches and transitions into Trend Day conditions.

The Profile Score then combines Value Area position, previous value position, day type, rotation factor and 80% rule information into a 0 to 100 contextual reading.

Key Features of Omega Market Profile Indicator

TPO Market Profile

The indicator creates a complete TPO profile for each trading session, allowing traders to see where the market spent time rather than relying exclusively on traditional candlestick structure.

Point of Control

POC identifies the price level with the highest TPO concentration and provides a central reference point for understanding session value.

Value Area and Previous Value

VAH, VAL and POC define the current session’s value, while previous-session pVAH, pPOC and pVAL are projected onto the current session for additional context.

Initial Balance

The Initial Balance measures the first hour or configured opening period and helps determine range development, breakouts and day type conditions.

Day Type Classification

Trend Day, Neutral Day, Normal Day, Non-Trend Day, Double Distribution and other classifications provide an objective description of how the session is developing.

Open Type Detection

Open-Drive, Open-Test-Drive, Open-Rejection-Reverse and Open-Auction conditions are automatically identified from the first two TPO periods.

Auction Event Detection

The indicator detects IB breaks, acceptance outside previous value, the 80% rule, POC touches and transitions to Trend Day conditions.

Profile Dashboard

The dashboard displays day type, open type, Profile Score, POC, Value Area, Initial Balance, session structure, previous session information and recent profile events in one interface.

Multi Channel Alerts

Important events can generate MetaTrader popup alerts, mobile push notifications, sound alerts and Telegram messages.

Omega Market Profile Indicator Review

Omega Market Profile Indicator provides a structured way to apply classic Market Profile concepts directly inside MetaTrader 5. Its main strength is the transformation of session price activity into a visual TPO distribution that highlights where the auction spent time.

The combination of POC, Value Area and Initial Balance creates a useful framework for understanding the current session. Rather than relying solely on traditional support and resistance, the trader can also see where the market established value and whether price is trading inside or outside that area.

Simple BUY and SELL Entry Strategy

For beginners, the Omega Market Profile Indicator can be used with a simple market acceptance and rejection approach. The main idea is to identify important Market Profile levels such as the Point of Control (POC), Value Area High (VAH), and Value Area Low (VAL), then wait for price to show a clear reaction before entering a trade.

BUY Entry

🔹 Step 1: Identify the Value Area Low (VAL) or another important support area shown by the Omega Market Profile Indicator.

🔹 Step 2: Wait for price to move toward or briefly below the VAL and observe whether the market rejects the lower prices.

🔹 Step 3: Look for bullish confirmation, such as price moving back above the VAL or a bullish candle closing after the rejection.

🔹 Step 4: Enter a BUY position after the bullish confirmation candle closes.

🔹 Stop Loss: Place the Stop Loss below the VAL or below the recent swing low created during the rejection.

🔹 Take Profit: Target the POC first or the Value Area High (VAH) as a further target, depending on the market structure.

SELL Entry

🔹 Step 1: Identify the Value Area High (VAH) or another important resistance area shown by the Omega Market Profile Indicator.

🔹 Step 2: Wait for price to move toward or briefly above the VAH and observe whether the market rejects the higher prices.

🔹 Step 3: Look for bearish confirmation, such as price moving back below the VAH or a bearish candle closing after the rejection.

🔹 Step 4: Enter a SELL position after the bearish confirmation candle closes.

🔹 Stop Loss: Place the Stop Loss above the VAH or above the recent swing high created during the rejection.

🔹 Take Profit: Target the POC first or the Value Area Low (VAL) as a further target, depending on the market structure.

Simple Entry Rule for Beginners

The basic rule is:

BUY = VAL Support + Price Rejection + Bullish Confirmation

SELL = VAH Resistance + Price Rejection + Bearish Confirmation

Another simple Market Profile concept is to watch the POC as an important reference level. When price moves away from the POC and later returns toward it, the POC can serve as a potential target or area of market interest.

Avoid entering simply because price touches VAH, VAL, or POC. These levels provide context rather than guaranteeing a reversal. Waiting for price rejection and candle confirmation can help create a more structured entry.

This simple approach makes the Omega Market Profile Indicator easier for beginners to understand and apply. More advanced traders can later combine Market Profile with volume analysis, acceptance and rejection, breakout setups, Initial Balance, and market structure.

Why Omega Market Profile Indicator Stands Out

Classic Market Profile Method

The indicator brings the Steidlmayer Market Profile framework directly into MetaTrader 5, organizing price activity according to time spent at each price level.

Objective Value Levels

POC, VAH and VAL are calculated using defined rules, giving traders consistent reference levels instead of manually drawing subjective areas.

Initial Balance Analysis

The Initial Balance provides an early framework for evaluating session range development and potential directional expansion.

Automatic Day Type Recognition

The indicator continuously classifies the developing session into several Market Profile day types, helping traders distinguish trending conditions from balanced or rotational sessions.

Opening Type Detection

The four opening classifications provide early information about how price behaves immediately after the session begins.

Classic Auction Events

The automated detection of IB breaks, acceptance outside value, the 80% rule, poor extremes and single prints makes the indicator useful for traders following established Market Profile concepts.

Adaptive Row Sizing

Automatic row sizing uses recent volatility to adapt the profile to different instruments, helping the same general configuration work across Forex, Gold, indices and crypto.

All In One Dashboard

The dashboard combines the current session profile, previous session value, day type, Profile Score, Initial Balance, POC and recent events into a single interface.

Risk Management Features

Objective Reference Levels

POC, VAH, VAL and Initial Balance provide predefined price references that can be incorporated into entry, target and stop planning.

Previous Session Value

Previous value levels help establish context before a new session develops. The relationship between the opening price and prior Value Area is also used by the event engine.

Initial Balance Breaks

IB high and low provide clearly defined boundaries for monitoring directional expansion and potential breakout conditions.

Day Type Context

Knowing whether the session is developing as a Trend Day, Normal Day, Neutral Day or Non-Trend Day can help determine whether breakout or range-oriented tactics are more appropriate.

80 Percent Rule

When the session opens outside previous value and subsequently closes back inside it for two consecutive TPO periods, the indicator identifies the 80% rule and uses the opposite side of the previous Value Area as the target reference.

Auction Based Targets

The product description provides examples of using POC, VAH, VAL, Initial Balance edges, single prints and previous value levels as structured reference points rather than relying on arbitrary price distances.

Recommended Trading Conditions

Omega Market Profile Indicator supports Forex, Gold, indices, energies, crypto and stocks. The profile can use 15, 30 or 60 minute TPO periods depending on the trading style and market.

Market or Style Chart Timeframe TPO Period Recommended Focus
Forex Majors M5 to M15 M30 Full day profile, POC and Value Area
Gold XAUUSD M5 to M15 M30 London and New York activity, IB and value
Stock Indices M5 to M15 M30 Exchange cash session, IB breaks and day type
Crypto M5 to H1 M30 or H1 Continuous session value and profile structure
Active Scalping M1 to M5 M15 Liquid session, IB and short-term auction behavior

Weaknesses and Risk Warnings

Session Times Matter

Market Profile calculations depend on session boundaries. SessionStart and SessionEnd are entered using broker server time, so incorrect session settings can produce profiles that do not match the intended market session.

Data History Is Required

The indicator requires sufficient M15, M30, H1 and D1 history to build the profile correctly. Missing historical data can affect the available profile information.

Market Profile Is Not Predictive

Market Profile describes the auction process and areas of value, but it does not guarantee the future direction of price. The product explicitly recommends combining its information with an independent trading plan, position sizing and risk management.

Different Markets Behave Differently

A session structure that works well for Forex may not be directly appropriate for an exchange index or a 24 hour cryptocurrency market. Session times and TPO settings should therefore reflect the characteristics of the selected market.

Profile Score Is Not a Standalone Signal

The Profile Score summarizes market context using Value Area position, previous value, day type, rotation factor and the 80% rule. It should not be interpreted as an automatic buy or sell signal.

Trading Risk Remains

Leveraged Forex, CFD and other financial markets involve substantial risk. Historical Market Profile behavior and previously observed levels do not guarantee future results. Proper position sizing and risk management remain essential.

Who Should Use Omega Market Profile Indicator?

Intraday Market Profile Traders

Intraday traders can use POC, VAH, VAL and Initial Balance as structured reference levels for entries, targets and stops.

Auction Market Traders

Traders familiar with Steidlmayer and Dalton concepts can use automated day type, opening type, single print, poor high, poor low and 80% rule analysis.

Price Action Traders

Traders who already use support and resistance can add Market Profile value areas and auction structure to their existing price analysis.

Swing Traders

Swing traders can use previous-session value and developing profile structure to assess whether the market is balancing or moving into a stronger directional condition.

Market Profile Beginners

Newer traders can benefit from seeing TPO letters, day types, opening types and auction events displayed directly on live MT5 charts, providing a visual way to study the Market Profile methodology.

🔹 Refresh Navigator — Restart MetaTrader 5 or right-click Indicators in the Navigator and select Refresh.

🔹 Allow DLL Imports — Open Tools → Options → Expert Advisors and enable Allow DLL imports. This is required for licence verification and the indicator will not start without it.

🔹 Attach Indicator — Open the chart to analyse, with M5 or M15 recommended, and drag Omega Market Profile from the Navigator onto the chart.

🔹 Indicator DLL Permission — On the indicator’s Common tab, make sure Allow DLL imports is also enabled.

🔹 Configure Inputs — Enter the licence key and adjust the Inputs as required, then click OK.

🔹 Broker Server Time — All session times use broker server time, shown by the clock in the Market Watch window, rather than local computer time.

🔢 Licence & Language

🔹 Licence key [InpLicenseKey] — Default: (empty) — Enter the licence key received after purchase. Spaces are trimmed and letters are automatically converted to uppercase. Recommended: Enter the valid licence key.

🔹 The licence is verified online when the indicator starts together with the trading account number.

🔹 The licence is re-checked approximately every 30 minutes and immediately after switching to another trading account.

🔹 If the licence server cannot be reached, the indicator can continue running for up to approximately 72 hours after the last successful check.

🔹 Licence Errors — Messages such as Please enter your licence key. or Please tick Allow DLL imports… appear in the chart’s top-left corner and the Experts tab.

🔹 Computer Clock — Do not move the computer clock backwards to extend offline use. The indicator detects this condition and refuses to run.

🔹 Language [Lang] — Default: LANG_EN — Options: LANG_VI, LANG_EN. Controls the interface language. This build is English only, so chart labels, dashboard text, and alerts remain in English whichever option is selected. Recommended: LANG_EN.

🔢 Session & TPO

🔹 Session start [SessionStart] — Default: 00:00 — Defines when each new Market Profile session begins. The format is HH:MM using broker server time. Recommended: 00:00 for 24-hour Forex/crypto markets unless the broker uses another trading-day start.

🔹 For stock-index CFDs, the session can be aligned with the exchange cash-session opening time converted to broker server time.

🔹 Session end [SessionEnd] — Default: 00:00 — Defines when the profile session ends. Together with SessionStart, it determines the session structure.

🔹 SessionStart = SessionEnd creates a full-day profile lasting 24 hours.

🔹 SessionStart < SessionEnd creates a day session where only bars inside the selected period are profiled.

🔹 SessionStart > SessionEnd creates an overnight session crossing midnight.

🔹 TPO period [TPOPeriod] — Default: TPO_M30 — Options: TPO_M15, TPO_M30, TPO_H1. Defines the duration of each TPO letter period. Recommended: TPO_M30 for the classic Market Profile approach.

🔹 TPO_M15 provides more detail for scalping or shorter sessions.

🔹 TPO_H1 creates a smoother and broader profile for 24-hour markets and swing analysis.

🔹 The profile uses data from the selected TPO timeframe regardless of the chart timeframe, so sufficient history must be loaded.

🔹 Initial Balance periods [IBPeriods] — Default: 2 — Defines how many TPO periods at the beginning of the session form the Initial Balance. Recommended: 2 with M30, 4 with M15, or 1 with H1` to maintain approximately one hour of IB.

🔹 The IB high and low are used for range extension, IB-break arrows, alerts, and day-type classification.

🔹 Day type is calculated only after the selected IB periods are complete.

🔹 Profiles drawn [ProfileDays] — Default: 5 — Controls how many previous sessions are displayed. The indicator keeps the selected number of historical profiles plus the current profile, with a maximum of 8 total profiles. Recommended: 3–5.

🔹 Lower values create a cleaner chart and reduce chart-object usage on slower computers.

🔹 Row size in points (0 = auto) [RowPoints] — Default: 0 — Defines the fixed price height of each Market Profile row. 0 enables automatic row sizing based on volatility. Recommended: 0 for most markets.

🔹 The unit is points, representing the smallest price step rather than pips. On a 5-digit Forex symbol, 10 points = 1 pip.

🔹 A fixed value can be used when identical row heights are required every day, such as 20 points on EURUSD.

🔹 If a session would require more than 160 rows, the row size is enlarged automatically.

🔹 Rows per daily ATR (used when RowPoints = 0) [AutoRows] — Default: 40 — Controls the number of profile rows based on the average daily range of the last 14 days when automatic row sizing is enabled. Recommended: 40.

🔹 Higher values such as 50–60 create thinner rows and more detailed profiles.

🔹 Lower values such as 25–30 create thicker rows and smoother profiles with clearer POC and Value Area structures.

🔹 Values below 5 are treated as 5.

🔹 The current calculated row size is displayed in the dashboard footer as row …p.

🔹 Value Area % of TPOs [VAPercent] — Default: 70 — Defines the percentage of TPOs included in the Value Area. The Value Area expands outward from the POC until it contains the selected percentage. Recommended: 70.

🔹 Practical values are generally 60–80.

🔹 Lower values create a narrower core Value Area, while higher values create a wider Value Area.

🔢 Display

🔹 Chart theme [Theme] — Default: THEME_DARK — Controls the chart background, grid, candles, and bid/ask line colours.

🔹 THEME_NONE keeps the existing chart colours.

🔹 THEME_DARK uses a dark theme.

🔹 THEME_MIDNIGHT uses a deep-blue theme.

🔹 THEME_LIGHT uses a white background with a grid.

🔹 The theme also switches the chart to candlesticks and hides period separators. Recommended: THEME_DARK or THEME_MIDNIGHT for stronger profile contrast.

🔹 Restore colours on removal [RestoreTheme] — Default: true — Restores the original chart colours when the indicator is removed. Recommended: true.

🔹 Set to false if the selected theme should remain after removing the indicator.

🔹 TPO histogram [ShowHistogram] — Default: true — Draws coloured horizontal profile bars for each session.

🔹 Gold represents the POC row, blue represents Value Area, amber represents single prints, and dark slate represents rows outside Value Area.

🔹 The histogram bar length corresponds to the TPO count.

🔹 The TPO letters are drawn inside the histogram, so disabling ShowHistogram also hides the letters.

🔹 TPO letters (current session) [ShowLetters] — Default: true — Displays A, B, C and subsequent TPO letters on each row of the current session.

🔹 Historical sessions show the histogram only to keep the chart cleaner.

🔹 ShowLetters requires ShowHistogram = true.

🔹 Initial Balance box [ShowIB] — Default: true — Draws a rectangle around the Initial Balance, covering the high-to-low range of the first IBPeriods periods.

🔹 Extended levels [ShowLevels] — Default: true — Draws VAH, VAL, and POC across each profile session.

🔹 VAH and VAL are dotted lines, while POC is a solid line.

🔹 The current session also displays VAH, POC, and VAL labels at the right side.

🔹 Previous-day levels on today’s session [ShowPrevLevels] — Default: true — Projects the previous session’s VAH, POC, and VAL across the current session as dashed lines labelled pVAH, pPOC, and pVAL.

🔹 Hiding these lines does not disable the underlying logic. Open type versus previous value, acceptance, and the 80% rule continue to be calculated and displayed in the dashboard.

🔹 Font size [LabelFont] — Default: 8 — Controls the font size of TPO letters, level labels, day-type tags, and poor high/low labels. Recommended: 6–14, with 8 as a practical starting point.

🔹 Increase the value on high-resolution monitors or reduce it if letters overlap because of narrow profile rows.

🔢 Dashboard

🔹 Show dashboard [ShowDash] — Default: true — Shows or hides the information panel containing day type, Profile Score, POC/VA/IB cards, current and previous session information, recent events, and dashboard buttons.

🔹 Anchor right [DashRight] — Default: false — Places the dashboard from the left edge when false or the right edge when true. Recommended: true when the profile is primarily displayed on the left side of the chart.

🔹 X offset (pixels) [DashX] — Default: 10 — Controls the horizontal dashboard distance from the selected chart edge.

🔹 Y offset (pixels) [DashY] — Default: 28 — Controls the vertical dashboard distance from the top of the chart.

🔹 Panel scale [DashScale] — Default: 1.5 — Controls the overall dashboard size. The panel automatically shrinks when the chart is too small and never goes below 0.55. Recommended: 1.0 for laptops/small charts, 1.5 for Full HD, and up to 2.0 for 4K.

🔹 The panel automatically remains within the available chart height and approximately 45% of chart width.

🔹 Font adjust [DashFontAdj] — Default: 1.0 — Fine-tunes the dashboard text size without changing the panel layout. Recommended: 0.8–1.3.

🔹 Use a lower value when dashboard text looks too large or crowded and a higher value when the text appears too small.

🔹 Move Dashboard — Click and drag the dashboard by its header to move it anywhere on the chart.

🔹 The manually selected position is remembered for that chart and overrides DashRight, DashX, and DashY.

🔹 To restore the original Input-based position, press F3 to open Global Variables and delete variables beginning with OMPROF_DASHX_ and OMPROF_DASHY_, then re-attach the indicator.

🔢 Alerts

🔹 Alerts are checked when a TPO period closes rather than on every tick. For example, with TPO_M30, alerts are evaluated every 30 minutes.

🔹 This means alerts are based on completed TPO periods and do not repaint after confirmation.

⚙️ Alert Channels

🔹 Popup [AlertPopup] — Default: true — Displays the standard MetaTrader alert window with a sound, including the symbol, timeframe, and event details.

🔹 Push notification [AlertPush] — Default: false — Sends alerts to the MetaTrader 5 mobile application.

🔹 To enable push notifications, find the MetaQuotes ID in the MT5 mobile application under Settings → Chat and Messages or Messages.

🔹 Enter the ID under Tools → Options → Notifications, enable Push Notifications, and click Test.

🔹 Sound [AlertSoundOn] — Default: false — Plays the sound file specified by AlertSoundFile when an alert is triggered. This can be used when popup alerts are disabled.

🔹 Sound file [AlertSoundFile] — Default: alert.wav — Defines the .wav file used for sound alerts. The file must be stored in the MetaTrader Sounds folder.

🔹 Built-in examples include alert.wav, alert2.wav, news.wav, and ok.wav.

⚙️ Alert Events

🔹 Initial Balance break [AlertIB] — Default: true — Alerts when a completed TPO period closes above the IB high or below the IB low for the first time during the session.

🔹 The alert occurs once per direction per session.

🔹 Value Area events and the 80% rule [AlertValue] — Default: true — Controls alerts for previous Value Area relationships, acceptance, and the 80% rule.

🔹 Open relation — At the beginning of a session, reports whether price opened above, inside, or below the previous Value Area.

🔹 Acceptance — Alerts when two consecutive TPO periods close outside the previous Value Area.

🔹 80% rule — Alerts when the session opens outside previous value and two consecutive periods close back inside. The alert includes the opposite edge of the previous Value Area as the target.

🔹 POC touch [AlertPOC] — Default: false — Alerts when the latest closed TPO period trades through the current POC after the previous period did not.

🔹 This is disabled by default because POC is frequently touched during balanced sessions. Recommended: Enable when trading POC retests.

🔹 Day type changes to Trend [AlertDayType] — Default: true — Alerts when the developing session is classified as Trend Day ▲ or Trend Day ▼.

🔹 The alert includes the session range as a multiple of the Initial Balance.

🔢 Telegram

🔹 Send to Telegram [TgEnable] — Default: false — Sends every enabled alert to the configured Telegram chat and adds a TEST TG button to the dashboard footer.

🔹 Telegram requires Allow DLL imports, an internet connection, a valid TgToken, and a valid TgChatID.

🔹 Bot token [TgToken] — Default: (empty) — Stores the API token of the Telegram bot created through @BotFather. Recommended: Keep the token private.

🔹 Chat ID [TgChatID] — Default: (empty) — Defines the destination personal chat, group, or channel.

🔹 Private chat IDs are normally positive numbers.

🔹 Group IDs begin with -, while supergroup and channel IDs commonly begin with -100.

Telegram Setup

🔹 Open Telegram and contact @BotFather.

🔹 Send /newbot, choose a bot name and username, and copy the generated token into TgToken.

🔹 Open a chat with the new bot and press Start.

🔹 For a group or channel, add the bot to the group or add it as an administrator to the channel.

🔹 Obtain the Chat ID, for example through @userinfobot or Telegram’s getUpdates method after sending a message to the bot.

🔹 Enter the Chat ID into TgChatID.

🔹 Set TgEnable = true and click OK.

🔹 Click TEST TG on the dashboard.

🔹 A successful configuration should deliver a test message within a few seconds.

🔹 If send failed appears, check the Experts tab, bot token, Chat ID, internet connection, and DLL permissions.

🔢 About

🔹 Website [AboutWeb] — Default: https://eafxstore.com — Defines the web address opened by the dashboard WEB button. Recommended: Keep the default value.

🔹 Support [AboutTelegram] — Default: https://t.me/eafxstore6789 — Defines the Telegram support link opened by the dashboard TELEGRAM button. Recommended: Keep the default value.
